“Alpine Grandeur in the Engadin”

It all began with a fireside bet when founder Johannes Badrutt dared guests to return in winter, boldly confident they would enjoy St. Moritz just as much, if not more so, than summer. He won the bet, and the great and the good have followed suit ever since. Stunning all year round, St. Moritz’s oldest hotel (1855) has repeat guests spanning generations, impeccable service, unbeatable location, and jaw-dropping views of the lake and the Albula Alps.

Best time to visit : mid-June - mid-September / December – first week of April

What we love

Unashamedly grand, with history at every turn, its storied corridors dotted with sporting and royal memorabilia. Long-term staff know guests by name, some since birth, including the General Manager, whose father also helmed the Kulm. Legacy runs deep here, now enhanced with refreshes by Pierre-Yves Rochon and Lord Norman Foster, adding renewed flair to its 172 rooms and suites, five restaurants, three bars and a lounge.

  • All Suites overlook Lake St. Moritz, ensuring front-row seats to an Alpine wonderland
  • The hills are alive; Kulm can arrange everything from Heli-Skiing, Night-Skiing, and Tobogganing to the legendary Cresta Run, invented at the hotel
  • Chefs Claudia Canessa and Mauro Colagreco bring Peruvian and Riviera sunshine to Kulm’s winter seasons
  • What’s better than Après-Ski? Après-Après-Ski at Kulm’s multi-million dollar spa with its panoramic views, Salt Grotto and Indoor-Outdoor pools
