“Jewel in Tokyo’s Crown”

When the maestros of high jewellery and the senseis of high style decided to facet a lofty palazzo and guild it with brush strokes of zen, we knew nothing would be lost in translation. Bvlgari’s showstopping bella figura casts its bejewelled gaze 45 storeys above central Yaesu, with Tokyo Station below, the moated Imperial Palace and Fuji-san beyond. Within, Venetian glass mosaics glimmer while Hosoo silk threads gleam throughout this temple of refinement with its 98 exquisitely rendered rooms and suites, extending skyward to the 25-meter rooftop pool, beckoning with its beguiling cloud-sea of ever-so-pale emeralds.

Best time to visit : Spring (March, April) and Autumn (October, November)

What we love

We have become devotees of studio Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, entrusted with transplanting the essence of Roman Holiday to the land of the Rising Sun. Beliisima and bravura are subtly deepened with time-honoured Shibui, personified in the ethereal indoor-outdoor Bvlgari Bar, where fragrant lemon and yuzu trees bookend a tessellated, multihued mural depicting a botanical arcadia. Do we sound like we’re in love? Hai, assolutamente!

  • Lingering longer in the Lombardy linens and golden-hued Kyoto bedspreads or soaking in the Japanese black granite bathtubs
  • Divine dolci? Si. Palate-pleasing cucina italiana and masterful omakase are both in Michelin-starred hands
  • In a city obsessed with square footage, you’ll find 4,300 of them in the seductively stately Bylgari Suite
  • The truly spellbinding 11,000-square-foot Bvlgari Spa with treatments by Augustinus Bader
